Recommended Substrates

Will bond to all substrates listed below, but refer to the flooring installation system for specific installation recommendations:

DO NOT USE OVER:

  • Concrete with excessive moisture and/or alkali
  • Existing cushion-backed resilient flooring
  • Substrates treated with fire-retardant chemicals, fungicides, preservatives, release agents, adhesive removers, sealers, curing compounds or other incompatible treatments

Application Instructions

  • Condition the area to be installed, adhesive, and flooring to minimum 65 degrees F (18 degrees C) for 48 hours before, during, and for 48 hours after installation.
  • Subfloor must be smooth, sound, dry, clean, and free of dirt, wax, polish, paint, and all other foreign matter which may interfere in a good bond, including curing agents and sealers.
  • Always run a moisture and alkali test over concrete on any grade level or any other substrate over on- or below-grade concrete. For accurate results, curing agents must be removed in areas where tests will be run. Calcium Chloride test results should not exceed 5 pounds/1000 sq ft/24 hours for sheet products or 8 pounds/1000 sq ft/24 hours for LVT, relative humidity in-situ probe results should not exceed 90% for sheet products and 95% for LVT. Alkali readings should be 5 to 9.
  • Stir any liquid on the surface into the adhesive and full spread using the recommended trowel notching.
  • When installing over nonporous surfaces such as existing resilient flooring and embossing levelers, allow enough open time for the adhesive to dry until tacky with no transfer to the finger (Dry-to Touch) before placing the material into it. This normally takes 30 minutes or more, depending on temperature and humidity. After the adhesive has reached this condition, there is at least one hour of working time in which to install and roll the flooring.
  • When installing over porous surfaces such as concrete and wood, allow the adhesive enough time to thicken slightly but not become completely dry to the touch. Use the Set-in-Wet procedure for placing the material into the adhesive. The adhesive should be wet enough to transfer readily to the backing. Seams must be laid into place before the adhesive has had a chance to set up over porous surfaces.
  • Note: Allowing the proper open time will help to minimize knee marks, roller marks and trapped air blisters. Open time will vary based on job conditions, substrate, temperature, air flow and humidity.
  • Roll thoroughly. Starting at the center and working toward the edges, roll in two directions using a 100-lb roller. Seams must be hand rolled, then rolled again with a 100-lb roller.
  • Remove wet adhesive residue using a clean, white cloth dampened with soapy water. Use mineral spirits for dried adhesive residue carefully following warnings on container.
Protect newly installed flooring when moving heavy appliances and/or rolling loads.
